This article will describe the different rebates currently available, the criteria to qualify, and how to apply. Please note that when it comes to personal taxes, it’s always important to get the advice of a tax professional or CPA.
SALT RIVER PROJECT (SRP) REBATE FOR REPLACEMENT WINDOWS
From January 1, 2024 to April 30, 2024, SRP is offering a Window Replacement Rebate of “$3.00 per square foot on professionally installed ENERGY STAR rated replacement windows.” In other words, for a 2,000sf home, SRP will give you a $6,000 rebate for replacing your current windows with energy efficient windows!!
How do you know if the windows qualify? The SRP website says, “Replace your home’s existing windows with new ENERGY STAR rated windows that meet minimum efficiency ratings with a U-factor of less than or equal to .32 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of less than or equal to .23. Ask your contractor for information on available windows that meet the rebate requirements.”
As your Contractor (ROC# 332700), we can confirm that our windows from Andersen, PlyGem, and many other brands do qualify! Here’s additional criteria to participate:
- Be a permanent SRP residential electric customer who lives in a single-family detached home, mobile home or condominium/townhouse.
- Have the replacement windows installed in a home that has had permanent electric service from SRP for more than one year.
- Have the replacement windows installed before April 30, 2024 [but NOT before January 1, 2024], by a contractor licensed in Arizona to install windows.
- Allow, upon request, SRP or our agent to inspect the newly installed windows to verify compliance with SRP Replacement Window Rebate requirements.

FEDERAL TAX CREDIT FOR REPLACEMENT WINDOWS
There is a Federal Tax Credit for the cost of purchasing ENERGY STAR windows and skylights. The credit is for 30% of the cost up to $600. In other words, if the cost of your replacement windows is $1,000, you will get a tax credit of $450 ($1,500 x 0.3). If your energy efficient replacement windows cost $2,000 or more, you will get a tax credit of $600.
To qualify, exterior windows must meet the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient criteria. Once again, replacement windows from Vision Windows do qualify! Also, the replacement windows must be installed between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2032.

Local utility companies like SRP and the Federal Government both recognize the importance of replacing old windows with energy efficient windows. In a world with limited resources, they are willing to incentivize us to use resources like electricity sparingly. In the case of window replacements, you can save up to $6,600 for a 2,000sf home. A 4,000sf home is $12,600!!
